This June the Tennessee office lent their support to the local Hawaii Civic Club who was celebrating ten years in the community. DAWSON provided the leis for the event and a ukulele to be auctioned off to raise money for their cultural activities.  Derek Mar, Samantha Smith, and Dawna Smith met with Marlene Livesay (President of the Hawaii Civic Club) in early April and learned that the HCC promotes native Hawaiian cultural activities within the community.  They raise money to send children to Kamehameha Summer Camp and positively impact the local veteran community and other local non-profits by performing hula and providing traditional Hawaiian food for Memorial Day & Labor Day weekends and various celebrations throughout the year.

The Hawaii Civic Club works to perpetuate the sovereignty of the native Hawaiian people and their culture.  “We are very proud to be supporting the Hawaii Civic Club.  Their mission directly aligns with our mission to principally benefit Native Hawaiians and to have a positive impact on our employees, families, clients, and communities where we serve”, says Dawna Smith.  For more information about the Tennessee Hawaii Civic Club, here is a link to their website:  What an honor to participate in the preservation of Hawaiian culture and, more particularly, in sharing the Aloha spirit in the course of our everyday lives. Mahalo to Derek, Dawna, and Samantha for bridging this awesome new relationship in Tennessee!
